Extractions

Sometimes a tooth cannot be saved and it must be completely removed.  This procedure is called a dental extraction. Patients receive freezing to ensure a comfortable experience.  Extractions may be recommended for severely broken or loose teeth due to decay, infection or gum disease.  Wisdom teeth that are impacted, decayed or infected may also require extraction.  Thornhill Village Dental is able to provide routine and surgical extractions including wisdom teeth.

Dental extractions may also be recommended for a baby tooth that is not falling out on its own.  Some people have extra teeth that need to be extracted.  As well, individuals undergoing orthodontic treatment (braces) may need teeth extracted to create space for crowded teeth.  In some cases, teeth that are infected or pose a high risk of infection require extraction prior to radiation or chemotherapy.
